New funding to support social activities for children and young people in Lincolnshire
We’re excited to announce that we have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to support our Chance to Meet service for the next 12 months.
Chance to Meet supports children and young people aged 0 to 18 who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, sight impaired or deafblind. Children with sensory impairments often miss out on opportunities as they grow up such as social and leisure activities, educational opportunities and family days out. Activities are often inaccessible for our members, but they are vital in helping children learn to understand the world around them and gain life skills. They also help children to build friendships, develop a sense of identity amongst their peers, bond with friends and family and support their emotional wellbeing.
Chance to Meet therefore offers activities throughout the year for our members to take part in with everything from bowling and pizza parties to farm visits and soft play. Families and siblings are also encouraged to participate enabling families to enjoy quality time together.
Chance to Meet is like an extended family for many of our members and through our activities, children develop friendships and a sense of belonging and build their understanding of the world around them whilst bringing families and parents together to support one another.
We would therefore like to say a huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and our other supporters for helping ensure Chance to Meet is able to continue supporting families across Lincolnshire for another year.
