Join Us for the LLR Sensory Services Community Launch Event

We are delighted to invite people of all ages with sight impairments or who are deafblind/have dual sensory loss, their families, carers, professionals and community partners to the Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Sensory Services Community Launch Event.

This exciting event is an opportunity to learn about the new service, meet the team, explore support available and help shape the future of sensory services across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

When: Thursday 30^th July
Time: 10am – 3pm (Drop-in – you don’t have to stay the whole day, though you are welcome to!)
Children and Young People’s Activities: 11am – 1pm
Where: Attenborough Hall, Leicester City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1FZ

Discover What’s Available

Throughout the day, specialist staff will host interactive stalls showcasing different areas of the service, including:

Rehabilitation
Eye Care Liaison Officer (ECLO) support
Children and Young People’s services
Digital support
Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)

Visitors can speak directly with staff, ask questions and find out how to access support.

Try, Learn and Explore

The event will include practical demonstrations and activities designed to increase understanding of sight impairments and deafblindness and equipment and technology available to support independence and daily living. Visitors can:

Experience simulation spectacles
Learn sighted guiding techniques
Explore specialist equipment and technology
Discover tools that support independence

Fun for Families

Dedicated activities for children and young people will run from 11am to 1pm, with lunch provided. This is a great opportunity for families to learn more about the support available while children take part in engaging activities.

Connect with Your Community

Enjoy free tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day and relax in our community seating area. Whether you’re a service user, family member, carer or professional, it’s a chance to meet others, share experiences and build new connections.
