We are excited to share news of our recently launched digital inclusion projects in Leeds which are being delivered through our Leeds Sensory Services.

With support of The Ian Karten Charitable Trust, we have recently expanded our Karten Centre which was based in Birmingham, creating a new mobile Karten Centre in Leeds. Karten Centres are a network of specialist IT centres designed to support adults with a range of disabilities, impairments and wider needs, to build independence. Our mobile Karten Centre offers those with sensory impairments living in Leeds access to a range of mainstream and specialist digital resources and technology.

These resources are being put to immediate use through our recently launched digital inclusion projects funded by Leeds Community Foundation which aim to address the digital exclusion many people with sensory impairments experience. Through these projects, we provide face to face workshops giving people the chance to get hands-on experience of the hardware, programs and apps needed to engage in the modern workplace and in their daily lives, building independence, confidence and work-related skills. Workshops are delivered by our specialist equipment and technology staff and our transitions and employment team, providing tailored advice and support for those who are D/deaf, hard of hearing or sight impaired.

We would like to say a huge thank you to The Ian Karten Charitable Trust and the Leeds Community Foundation for their continued support of BID Services and our clients.
