For people who are D/deaf or hard of hearing

Alerting Devices for the Home

Learn about adapted technology such as smoke alarms, alarm clocks, baby monitors and flashing doorbells which use sensory alerts such as flashing lights or vibrations rather than relying only on sound. These are designed to keep you safe and connected in the home.

Communication Technology

Get advice on hearing aids, loop systems, microphones and similar types of assistive technology to help you with communication in daily life. We can also support with hearing aid maintenance, cleaning and battery changes.

Phones and Smart Devices

We can show you how to make the most of the built-in accessibility features on your phone, mobile, tablet, or smart devices. You can also get support on setting up or registering with apps like Relay UK, EmergencySMS and video interpreting apps.

For people with a visual impairment

Computers

Our teams can support you to get the most out of the in-built accessibility features for your personal or work computer, using screen magnification, screen readers and speech-to-text features.

Eyewear

We can advise you on specially tinted eyewear which can provide you with protection for your eyes. We also have close partnerships with organisations who will be able to advise on, and provide AI eyewear.

Home Gadgets

Not sure what helpful kitchen gadgets are out there for you? We can show you what’s available and help you get the right equipment. Examples include talking appliances, tactile tools, liquid level indicators and more. We can also help set up smart devices around the home, to help you control your heating and lighting.

Mobility Canes and Walking Sticks

Try out different types of mobility canes and walking sticks to find the best fit for you. We can also offer orientation and mobility training to teach safe and independent travel/navigating skills.

Phone and Smart Devices

We can support you in using built-in accessibility features on your devices, show you apps that make daily tasks easier, like getting around or identifying things (such as Be My Eyes), and help you connect your devices to smart home tools.
