Samaira’s Success
From self-doubt to securing a job

Samaira came to our Leeds Employment service in 2024, feeling unsure about her next steps. Samaira has dual sensory loss — she’s registered as Severely Sight Impaired (SSI) and wears hearing aids in both ears — which knocked her confidence when it came to finding a job.
Samaira has an impressive background with GCSEs in Maths and English, plus a Level 4 Diploma in Beauty Therapy. She’s also volunteered with the West Yorkshire Police Cadets, worked in hair and beauty, and even helped out at a nursery. However, like many young people Samaira struggled to know which career path she wanted to follow.
How We Helped
We worked with Samaira to:
- Arrange a visit to make-up store – Learned about the makeup industry, and even practiced applying makeup on one of our employment staff.
- Improve her CV and cover letter – We helped her highlight her skills and experience better.
- Join our Job Club – Samaira picked up job search tips and gained confidence through group sessions.
- Confidence building – We worked with Samaira on boosting her self-belief, helping her recognise her strengths and feel more prepared for interviews.
The Result
After a few applications, Samaira landed a job with Rejuva Skin! Her confidence has skyrocketed, and this is just the beginning.
We’re so proud of Samaira — proof that with the right support and a bit of confidence, anything’s possible!
We would also like to say a huge thank you to Rejuva Skin for their dedication and support in creating an environment where Samaira can truly thrive. Their commitment to accessibility and inclusion has played a vital role in helping Samaira reach her full potential.

“Before speaking to Hannah I had no confidence in myself and I struggled to approach anyone for help. I had little faith that I would find a suitable job with a vision and hearing impairment. From the very first time I met Hannah, I could see she was motivated and dedicated in her role. She put 100% effort into supporting me and boosted my self-esteem. Thanks to Hannah’s help and guidance, I am now in full-time employment. I wouldn’t be where I am without Hannah’s motivation and couldn’t have asked for a better mentor.”
We have been able to support Samaira to gain employment due to our Lottery funded Employment service.
