Employment Support – Leeds

In today’s competitive world, finding a job can be challenging, particularly for people who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, or sight/severely sight impaired. At Leeds Sensory Services, we’re committed to removing these barriers, empowering you to set and achieve your career goals with support based around your needs.

Our specialist Employment Service offers employment support and training as well as working with employers to break down barriers and identify opportunities.

What do we offer?

  1. 1:1 Support: Whether you’re looking for your first job, looking to stay in work, or just want to build new skills, we offer personalised help, from CV tips to interview practice and accessible technology.
  2. Technology Support: We can provide support and training to help you build your digital confidence. From using BSL interpreter apps to screen-reader-friendly applications, we make sure you have the skills and confidence to make the best use of technology available.
  3. Workshops & Skill Building: We don’t just help you get a job, we want you to feel confident. Our workshops and skill building sessions bring people together to work towards shared goals, helping you build skills such as CV writing, interview preparation and career planning.
  4. Long-Term Support: We’re here to make sure your journey runs smoothly. We provide ongoing support with things like adaptive equipment, Access to Work, and workplace accessibility.

At Leeds Sensory Services, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive in a career they love.

Support for Employers

Employers can lack confidence in employing people with a disability and many are not aware of the Government’s Access to Work scheme, which can help meet the cost of reasonable adjustments in the workplace and cover costs such as interpreters. We can support employers in a range of ways including making recruitment processes more accessible, increasing awareness and helping employers understand Access to Work.

Want to volunteer with us?

Our volunteers are invaluable and make a huge difference to our work. Whatever your skills, experience and interests, we probably have a volunteering opportunity that will suit you.
