Getting Your Eyes Tested

Did you know?

Free NHS sight test

You are entitled to a free NHS sight test if you are under 16, aged 60 or over, have diabetes or glaucoma, or receive certain low-income benefits, aged 40 or over with a parent, sibling, child or spouse diagnosed with glaucoma, or advised by a doctor that you’re at risk of glaucoma.

NHS Vouchers

An NHS optical voucher is a financial contribution by the government that helps eligible individuals pay for glasses or contact lenses. NHS complex lens vouchers are also financial contributions by the NHS to help people with high or complex prescription needs pay for corrective lenses.

Mobile sight test

If you’re eligible for a free NHS sight test, you may also be entitled to a mobile sight test. This is when an optometrist comes to visit you at home, at a care home or a day centre if you’re unable to leave because of a physical or mental illness or disability.
