Birmingham Community Activities

In Birmingham we offer a various activities for the local D/deaf and hard of hearing community where you can meet up with friends, take part in different activities and access information. An example of some of the activities we have on offer is listed below. Please note, these change throughout the year based on community feedback and funding.

All activities take place at the Deaf Cultural Centre, Ladywood Road unless otherwise stated.

Friday Community Day

Every Friday from 10am to 4pm we run different activities such as social groups, exercise sessions, arts and crafts, games, information sessions and health workshops. Please get in touch or visit our Facebook page to find out what’s on.

Friday Community Evening

This takes place on the last Friday of every month from 5pm to 10pm. The bar will be open and we will have bingo, poker and chess. Please note we sometimes change the date for weekend events, please get in touch or check our Facebook page before you attend.

Social Groups & Deaf Clubs

We have two social groups who meet every Friday at the Deaf Cultural Centre, one for those who are hard of hearing and one for D/deaf people and British Sign Language (BSL) users. We also have a group which meets twice a month in Erdington and on which meets twice a month in Solihull. Please visit our Birmingham Social Groups & Deaf Clubs page for details.

Parenting Group

Our parenting group meets every Wednesday from 10.30am to 1.30pm and offers you the chance to meet other parents and learn from each other and guest speakers. This group is for D/deaf parents with a D/deaf, hard of hearing or hearing child and for hearing parents with a D/deaf or hard of hearing child. This group is aimed at those with children aged 4 and under but parents with older children are welcome to attend.

Driving Theory Workshop

Every Friday from 1pm to 3pm we provide support in BSL to help you prepare for your driving theory test.
