Women’s Health BSL Videos
With support from Wellbeing of Women, we have created a new collection of British Sign Language (BSL) videos to make vital women’s health information accessible for D/deaf and Hard of Hearing women.
We know that a lack of BSL access to health information can lead to barriers such as misdiagnosis, inappropriate treatment, or missed appointments. Too often, women are left without the knowledge they need to make informed choices about their own health and wellbeing.
These videos aim to remove those barriers by providing clear, basic health information in BSL. Our goal is to ensure that D/deaf and Hard of Hearing women, particularly BSL users, can access reliable information, feel confident, and take control of their health.
We would like to thank Wellbeing of Women for funding our Women’s Health project, and working closely with our Leeds Sensory Services team. We also extend our gratitude to SignHealth, My Menopause Centre, Leeds & Wakefield Breast Screening Unit, and Deaf Cancer Support for providing the trusted health information featured in the videos above.
