A journey that started in 2001

Today, we are celebrating an amazing achievement for Lisa – 25 years at BID Services!

She first joined our charity back in 2001 as an Information Video Producer – this was just the first of many roles for her!

She was also very involved in the Deaf Community, and ran our Deaf Elder’s Group every Wednesday evening. During these group sessions, she would spend time chatting with members of the community to try and understand what information they needed and what they wanted to know, whether this was information about services available to them, or what activities they would like to take part in.

“I used to run the staff and volunteer panto every year for the Deaf Community which they loved! I wrote many of the scripts over the years, including Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs (pictured below, left). It was so funny, loved it. Staff rehearsals every Wednesday night was brilliant. We used to have a lot of laughs and it was a great way to mix with the other staff.”

Lisa was very rarely seen without a camera in hand and has been known to get herself into some unusual positions for that perfect shot! Throughout her career with us, she has racked up an impressive amount of photography and videography experience which we still rely on today!

She officially joined the Marketing Team as a Marketing & Multimedia Specialist back in 2010 and has been running the show ever since! Designing all our corporate leaflets, maintaining our website to keep all the information updated and relevant is just the tip of the iceberg for her current role.

Accessibility has always been close to Lisa’s heart, and you will see her regularly on our social media pages, translating information in British Sign Language (BSL) for Deaf people across the UK. She’s currently studying for her Level 6 Diploma is Sign Language Interpreting and Translation with Signature to further develop her translation skills!

As an organisation, we feel incredibly lucky to have such a committed individual, continuing to work as hard as she did from day one. Congratulations on an amazing achievement, Lisa. We hope to keep you around for many more years to come!
