Youth Worker

Location: Flexible (Remote working)
Salary: £5,390.90 per annum (Paypoint 18A £18,133 per annum)
Hours: Part time, 11 hours per week

Fixed term until April 2022

Do you enjoy working with young people?

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our small and friendly team to facilitate the provision of online youth activities appropriate to the developmental stages of the young people involved across the key areas of Birmingham, Leeds, Lincolnshire, Milton Keynes, Durham, Coventry and Warwickshire and other areas across the UK.  

Reporting to the Youth Project Officer you will be taking responsibilities for the following (list is not exhaustive):

  • To facilitate and support the effective running of an online youth provision for young people aged 4 – 18.
  • To make a difference to the lives of deaf children by supporting their education, personal and social development.
  • To work closely with existing services such as Birmingham Youth Service, Chance to Meet, Employment Service.
  • The promotion of a high quality, child / youth centered service within a safe and secure environment.

To be successful for this role, you will have an understanding of Deaf culture and issues within the Deaf community, experience in working directly with children and young people in a participation environment  (youth work, teaching or similar), excellent communication and IT skills including video conferencing. You will be qualified to BSL Level 3 or native sign language user and have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
