We are BID Services, a friendly and welcoming charity, with its head office in Birmingham. We are passionate about supporting children, young people and adults with a sensory loss. Our aim is to make a positive difference to the people who use our services, by empowering them to control their own lives. 

We are recruiting new Trustees and would like to hear form those who feel they have the drive, passion and commitment to help us shape our future. We seek fun, dynamic individuals with common sense, who will work with our Chairperson alongside the senior management team, using their influence, background and experience to develop new services, deliver the long term vision and progress our strategies.

We want to strengthen our Board so that we maintain and grow skills, expertise and knowledge needed to develop our services and commercial products. As such, the brief for the role is broad, with an expectation that Trustees will possess in the first instance sound common sense and skills within one or more of these specialist areas:

  • Adept at building relationships, developing new partnerships and networking
  • Good links and collaborations within the third sector, healthcare, local authority and corporate worlds
  • A solid understanding of the political landscape and the ability to influence policy decisions, particularly in the public policy environment
  • An entrepreneurial flair with a keen eye for growing and developing commercial opportunities
  • An understanding of the needs of people with a sensory loss
  • Fundraising and business development skills 
  • A strong financial or legal background
  • A knowledge of social enterprises, with a particular focus on conference events and employment 
  • Ability to champion and raise awareness of issues relating to sensory impairment,
  • Influencing change where this is possible 
  • An understating of marketing, in particular branding strategies
