Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Officer/Technical Assistant

Location: Solihull
Salary: £19,961 per annum pro-rata
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday : 4.5 hours per day

Working from Solihull and Chelmsley Wood Library, you will be first point of contact and able to provide a professional and competent information, advice and guidance to people with a sensory loss who may be hearing impaired or visually impaired. You will have excellent communication skills - being able to communicate using British Sign Language to a Level 2 standard.

It is essential that you have a good understanding of the associated issues surrounding sensory impairment, the skills to undertake a contact assessment and knowledge to signpost to other providers within the Borough. The role will entail providing support to the Technical Equipment Officer and therefore, an understanding of assistive technology and equipment is also important. You will be a car user flexible to travel when required to assist with domiciliary visits but predominantly you will be based at the Hubs.

This is a fixed term contract until March 2022 working with a small friendly team providing services from the Hub, which provides the opportunity to develop your sign language skills and participate in a range of training opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills.
