Location: Birmingham 
Salary: £17,189 per annum(pro-rata)
Hours: 7.5 hours per week

Contract: Permanent  

Do you enjoy working with older people?

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to oversee our Deaf Elders Group who meet weekly at our Centre in Birmingham. Reporting to the Project Team Leader you will be responsible for coordinating appropriate weekly activities to suit the group, listening to their needs and interests and planning occasional trips out.

As part of your role, you will take the lead on developing appropriate activities and entertainment events, planning trips, managing the volunteers who support the service by working closely with them on the delivery of the activities. A key part of the role is to offer the volunteers mentoring, support and regular supervisions. As you will be required to manage a small budget, experience in this area would be useful.

To be successful for the role you will have:

• Knowledge of the Deaf community
• Empathy and commitment to supporting the Elders Group
• Ability to communicate in British Sign Language up to Level 3 standard.
• Ability to build close relationship with the Elders and to obtain their views and preferences regarding activities
• Hands-on experience of working with older people
