Community Trainer  

Location: Birmingham
Hours: 13 per week
Salary: £24,067 pro-rata per annum

Fixed-term contract until October 2022 with the possibility of 1 year extension.

We are seeking a Community Trainer to join our Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) team in Birmingham  to develop,deliver/facilitate and co-ordinate awareness, training sessions and workshops for the community and professionals in the Birmingham area.  

As part of the role you will be:

  • Delivering training, that is accessible for Deaf, Deafend, including British Sign Language users, Sign Supported English users, Oral or Lip speakers.
  • Devising and developing training materials/resources ensuring accessibility to all Deaf , Hard of Hearing attendees, carers and professionals.
  • Developing  and delivering a range of training and capacity building courses, e.g. safety at home and in the community, wellbeing and healthy living sessions.
  • Implementing and promoting services for Deaf /Hard of hearing individuals  in line with BID's  values and three-year strategy.

What do you need to be successful for this role ?

You will have the ability to present to audiences and deliver training sessions to individuals and groups. You will be experienced in developing training materials , delivering training courses and set programmes. You will have good BSL signing skills to a  Level 2 standard and  hold a Level 3 training qualification. A positive attitude, excellent communication, organisational and planning skills are essential for this post as well as good understanding of the Deaf community. This role requires you to work some evenings and weekends also being able to travel across the West Midlands and undertake national travel if required.
