Assistant Social Worker

Location: Leeds
Salary: £21,867 pro rata per annum 
Hours: 18.5 hours per week
Contract Length: until March 2023

Leeds Hearing and Sight Loss Service provide a range of services to people with a sensory impairment/other disability. We are looking for an Assistant Social Worker who has a passion to work with Deaf People to join a committed and vibrant team. You will be working under the guidance of the qualified Social Worker providing one to one support to service users as outlined in their individual support plan.

Main  duties of the role includes (not exhaustive)

  • To co-work with the Social Worker to provide support to enable Deaf people to remain living in their own homes and access mainstream facilities.
  • Liaise with other professionals working with the service user to ensure the persons support plan is followed.
  • To maintain a caseload within targeted dates, giving weekly feedback to the social workers.

Some of the key skills and experience required for this role are:

  • Able to communicate effectively with all people across the sensory spectrum
  • Experience of following support plans, and supporting individuals to sustain independence
  • Minimum BSL Level 2 & willingness to acquire Level 3
     

To be successful for the role you will be able to travel freely within the area of operation of Leeds, have access to a vehicle and hold a full Driving License, hold a Deaf Awareness Training / qualification.
