BID Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Sensory Impairment Officer (Deafblind) to join our Lincolnshire Sensory Services Team. This rewarding role involves providing vital support to people who are Deaf, Hearing Impaired, Sight Impaired, Severely Sight Impaired, Deafblind, or have acquired Dual Sensory Loss.

You will work collaboratively with our team to conduct assessments, develop personalized support plans, and provide practical assistance to help service users live meaningful and fulfilled lives. This role offers an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of individuals with sensory impairments and their families.

As part of the role you will:

  • Conduct holistic person-centered assessments to identify needs and agree on outcomes for sensory impaired children, young people, and adults
  • Create individualized support plans based on assessment outcomes
  • Support the Senior Children & Deafblind Assessor in providing specialist assessments for deafblind/dual sensory impaired people
  • Contribute to the provision of environmental equipment assessments
  • Build relationships with hard-to-reach individuals and families
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and statistics
  • Process referrals and provide information using appropriate communication methods
  • Conduct risk assessments and report safeguarding concerns when necessary
  • Work flexibly to meet service requirements, including occasional evening and weekend work

To be successful for this post:

  • Knowledge of working with people with sensory disabilities
  • Understanding of equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people across the sensory spectrum
  • Computer literacy and good administrative skills
  • Experience in conducting needs-led assessments
  • BSL Level 1/2 (or working towards)
  • Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, and Deafblind Awareness training
  • NVQ 2/3 in Health and Social Care or related qualification
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle for work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
