Assessor (Sensory Loss-BSL)

We are recruiting for an  Assessor (Wellbeing Worker) to join our Leeds Sensory Services to provide high quality support to our service users who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deafblind, and 16+ and live within the area of Leeds.

As part of the role you will:

  • Offering information, advice, and guidance on a range of topics using appropriate communication methods
  • To do strengths-based assessments, support plan and risk assessment with service users including and where appropriate their carers/family members. To work in the community which includes a person’s home when needed.
  • To undertake risk assessment and report safeguarding concerns without delay in accordance with BID’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Promote independent living by referring people to access universal credits, personal independence payments (PIP), housing welfare.

To be successful for this post:

  • Experience in Working with people with a sensory disabilities (Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind)
  • Experience in undertaking needs-led assessments
  • Experience in providing Information, Advice and Guidance
  • Strong IT skills
  • Willingness to learn British Sign Language up to Level 3
