BID Services has many years’ experience of developing, establishing and running residential care provision. In recent years, much of this provision has been re-modelled; however, we still operate a specialist care home that caters specifically for profoundly deaf people with additional needs.

Chesterberry Care Home, Birmingham

Chesterberry comprises a seven bedroom house accommodating deaf adults with additional needs, for instance learning disability, sight impairment, autism, deaf/blindness and challenging behaviour.

Specialising in communication, culture, personal care and daily living activities, the home provides person centred and individualised support to residents. Individuals are encouraged to live as independently as possible, to take calculated risks and to get involved in the local community.

To meet the needs of the residents, the staff team are a diverse mix including several deaf staff members. The home provides a total communication environment with all staff communicating in British Sign Language or able to meet the particular communication needs of residents. The home contains specialist equipment reflecting the needs of profoundly deaf residents and staff.

Chesterberry is regulated by the Care Quality Commission and is regularly inspected by CQC under The Health and Social Care Act 2008 & 2012.
