A time to say thanks to our volunteers at BID Services

Volunteers Week 2022

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contributions people make through volunteering. This takes place every year from 1st – 7th June and it’s a chance to recognise the support volunteers are giving in our communities.

Stephen Jeffs, our Volunteer Coordinator, said “We are extremely thankful for the support of our dedicated team of volunteers. We would like to say a massive thank you to each of you, we really appreciate all your time and efforts.

BID Services has relied on the generosity and kindness of their volunteers since the charity was first set up over 120 years ago. There are now more than 130 volunteers supporting our charity which supports people with a sensory loss across the UK including the West Midlands, Leeds, Lincolnshire, Milton Keynes and Cumbria. Each of our volunteers has a vital role within our organisation and they are supporting us by taking on various volunteer roles. For example, we have an admin volunteer in our HR team, volunteers who support our local youth clubs for deaf and visually impaired young people, volunteers who enjoy welcoming people to our social groups, lunch clubs and community events as well as volunteers who deliver our drop-in sessions to support deaf and hard of hearing people how to look after their hearing aids.

Gail Penberthy, Chief Executive Officer for BID Services, said “Our volunteers help to make a positive difference to the lives of the people we are supporting. Their valuable contribution to every aspect of our work to support those living with sensory loss is really appreciated. Thank you so much!

Why volunteer?
Volunteering is a fulfilling way to give back to the community, help others and make a real difference. In return volunteering can help you to gain experience and new skills, make new friends and lead to other opportunities.
