Announcement: Bryan Sheppard

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bryan Sheppard, who served as BID’s Chief Executive from 1998 – 2014. Bryan passed away after a short illness.

During his term as Chief Executive, Bryan was integral to the growth of the charity. Through his passion, commitment and vision for the future of the charity, the positive changes Bryan made are still in evidence today.

One of Bryan’s great achievements was his role in the construction of the new Deaf Cultural Centre building in 2007, the first of its kind in England, which leaves a wonderful heritage for future generations of people with a sensory loss.

For those who knew Bryan, they will remember his enthusiasm for life, his love of Aston Villa, a passion that lasted a lifetime and his work and commitment for reviving Morris dancing in his home town of Adderbury.

Unfortunately, due to these difficult and unprecedented times, only Bryan’s immediate family are able to attend the burial but the family hope to be able to arrange a memorial event later in the year when social contact returns to normal.

On behalf of everyone at BID – all the staff teams, volunteers, trustees and his many friends, we send our heartfelt condolences to Bryan’s wife Gail and children Polly & Jack.
