A big thank you!

You may remember over the summer last year our sports shed at the Deaf Cultural Centre was broken into and most of our sports equipment was stolen. This equipment was used at events such as community days and by various groups from our Youth Club and Wellbeing service to the local Futsal Club and wider deaf community. We therefore set up a fundraiser with various appeals and activities taking place to try to raise the funds needed to replace this equipment and the storage unit and to buy some new equipment. In total we are hoping to raise £3,500 and are currently at £1,430.

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Karen Young our Specialist Employment Mentor working with young people with hearing impairments in the Black Country, recently attended a coffee morning at Ebenezer Mission Hall who generously donated to our sports equipment appeal. The group were very supportive and interested in the work BID does and Karen taught them fingerspelling using the BSL alphabet which they thoroughly enjoyed. We also want to thank the local community for your support. Nora from Envolve Wellness got in touch with us after she heard about our sports equipment being stolen and offered BID a free boxercise session which went down very well with the children in our Youth Club.

We still have a little way to go to reach our target but we are truly thankful for the support we have received so far and are confident we will reach our target. If you are able to support us, any donation, however great or small, would be hugely appreciated and would make a huge difference to the local sensory impaired community!
