Announcement: Mike Reynolds

It is with great sadness we announce that Mike Reynolds, who served as chair of the board of trustees at BID for 14 years, has passed away. Mike had a very long association with the charity, joining the board of trustees in 1997 and taking on the role of chair in 1998. He later became Vice Chair in 2012, retiring recently in September 2019.

During his time on the Board, Mike was instrumental in transforming the charity into the organisation it is today. He also played an integral role in the construction of the Deaf Cultural Centre building, leaving a wonderful legacy for future generations of people with a sensory loss.

As many will know, Mike was a brilliant advocate, tirelessly campaigning and championing for the rights of deaf people so they could have a better quality of life. Mike was one of those special warm human beings who always had time to listen to people. He was an inspiration to so many and his dedication and commitment to BID and to those who use our services will be truly missed.

On behalf of all the staff teams, volunteers, trustees and his many friends, we send our heartfelt condolences to Mike’s wife Trish, and the wider family.
