BID appoints new Chair

BID Services is committed to strengthening and maintaining a high performing board of trustees and is delighted to announce it has appointed a new Chair, Dr Jonathan Shapiro, who joined the board of trustees from 19th September, 2019, following the resignation of the interim chair Gail Conway.

Dr. Shapiro, who practiced medicine for many years, is a senior leader who has worked alongside organisations throughout the care industry, both in the UK and overseas. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and understanding of healthcare organisations to the role. Jonathan was previously the founding Chair of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust and is currently a trustee of John Taylor Hospice.

Gail Penberthy, CEO, BID Services: ‘We are delighted to welcome Jonathan to the charity at what is an exciting time in our organisational development. We have recently developed a new strategic direction for the charity and Jonathan’s experience and background, along with his deep understanding of the healthcare sector will be invaluable in supporting us to achieve our aims’.

Thanking Gail Conway for her significant contribution in steering the Charity through a difficult interim period, Dr. Shapiro added: ‘I’m really looking forward to contributing to the growth and development of BID Services, a charity that makes a positive difference to the lives of people with a sensory loss every day. I have a particular interest in change management and with my background in healthcare, I look forward to working with the BID team, helping our organisation realise its identified strategies’.
