Online Interpreting - Sign Translate & Interpreter Now

SignTranslate - provides instant help for Deaf people communicating with medical staff via a live web-cam link to qualified British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters. The interpreters are provided by BID Services and interpreting organisations around the country.

Sign Translate can be used for GP visits, hospital A & E departments or any situation where it's impossible to book a face to face interpreter at short-notice.

InterpreterNow - the Video Relay Service (VRS) from SignTranslate – connects Deaf people with healthcare professionals.

The service supports calls to anything 'healthcare' so contacting dentists, doctors, hospital, opticians, pharmacies or seeking medical advice from healthcare organisations is fast and simple.

All the person needs is an internet-connected computer with a simple webcam - and SignHealth, the charity who developed the service, are giving away free webcams to Deaf people wishing to use InterpreterNow.

For more information about InterpreterNow please email support@signhealth.org.uk or telephone 01494 687630.
