Coronavirus Update

Updated 10/06/21

In line with government guidance, some of our staff continue to work at home to help ensure the safety of our service users, staff and volunteers.

However, we would like to reassure you that our communications service is still open and our highly experienced skilled team of communication professionals are here to provide British Sign Language and other communication support for people who are deaf, deafened, have hearing loss or require deaf blind communication support.

We continue to provide interpreting and communication support through our team of in-house and freelance interpreters both face to face (when safe and appropriate to do so) or via our secure high quality video remote interpreting and can assure you we are available to support you in any way possible.

Our coordination team continue to support with interpreter bookings so please do get in touch with us as we are here to help.

Welcome to BID’s British Sign Language Interpreting services.

We provide a range of specialist translation services to meet the communications needs of deaf and hard of hearing people across the UK.

The interpreting service was established in 1994 and over the past 20 years, we have built our reputation on providing communications support that is professional, reliable, high quality and personalised.

Our large in-house team of interpreters are skilled professionals who are employed by us.  They can cover a diverse range of appointments and are all NRCPD registered and qualified to NVQ Level 4/6 in British Sign Language/English Interpreting. This ensures you receive interpreting services from staff that are committed to maintaining excellent standards of quality.

For organisations and individuals wishing to learn more about deaf culture and to communicate with deaf people, we offer training in British Sign Language, and Deaf Awareness Training. We can also provide tailored programmes to meet your specific needs.
