Deaf people face many challenges in finding sustainable employment and are one of the most disadvantaged groups within both society and the labour market.  BID's Employment Service aims to address the inequalities in the workplace and to provide bespoke training and support that Deaf people need to access employment.

We aim to address a number of barriers, Deaf people face when seeking employment including: 

  • Employers’ and mainstream training providers lack of deaf awareness.
  • Employers’ fears surrounding communication with a deaf person and the cost this may incur on their business.
  • Employers lack of understanding around Access To Work (ATW)
  • A deaf person’s isolation within the work place.
