Coronavirus Update

We would like to reassure our service users that whilst we have to make changes to the way we deliver our service in line with the Government’s guidelines, we are still open offering a high quality community based equipment service for deaf, hard of hearing and sensory impaired residents living in Cumbria.

Our Services

Assessments
Our service will continue to take referrals but unfortunately due to the government rules of not having social contact with people we have no option but to postpone home visits for the time being unless it is a real emergency.

Even though we are not allowed face to face support we can still offer our service as normal but the assessments will be done over the phone. As the majority of our service users are over the age of 70, if they struggle with hearing on the phone we would contact a family member and continue with the assessment that way.

Specialist Equipment Support
Depending on each case and the urgency of the service users’ need, there are different options we would take :

-If in desperate need we can post the equipment to the service users’ home and talk a family member through how to set it up either over the phone or via video call.

- If it is not a necessity we would complete the assessment over the phone and when the Government states we are allowed face to face contact again then one of the Technical Officers will visit to install the equipment.

Information, Advice and Guidance
If the service user needs to be signposted to another professional, ie, the fire service, our knowledgeable team will still continue to offer a range of information and guidance and will refer as normal but the process will take longer than usual but assure you it will be dealt with.

Getting in Touch
You can contact us in the usual way whether it be by phone, email or text and one our Technical Officers pick up the messages daily (Monday to Friday) and will deal with it accordingly.
