Designed for unemployed Deaf and Hard of Hearing people who want to find work, but are not sure what type of work would suit them, or who need to gain some qualifications, it will help clients to build up a more powerful CV and open the door to opportunities.
To deliver the service, a new team has come together. All are Deaf Aware or Deaf themselves and can communicate using British Sign Language.
Through a process of Information, Advice and Guidance, clients will be helped to make the choices of career and qualifications that are right for them.
Job Coaches
Job Coaches are here to help with all aspects of searching for work, including help to produce a personal CV and filling in application forms. By gently guiding and supporting clients through the different activities that break down the barriers felt by so many, success at gaining work is within reach.
Training Officers
A number of courses are on offer using trainers with excellent signing abilities, allowing them to work with both small groups and individuals. Qualifications are available at all levels and include British Sign Language, Literacy and Numeracy. There is also a new qualification for those who wish to work in the volunteer community. For people who already sign but have never been able to gain formal qualification, British Sign Language is delivered up to NVQ level 3.
