The area development officer’s role is to look at opportunities for the extension of existing services or the development of new services for the benefit of Deaf people.

All the officers are aware of current government and local policy and they work with key partners to look at current and new opportunities.

The development officers have been successful in securing funding to develop our Supporting People services in Staffordshire, Coventry, Warwickshire and County Durham.

The team have also been successful in obtaining grants from a number of sources to support bid services’ volunteer service and employment team as well as obtaining a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to create a heritage project to look at Deaf history.
