Services — Advocacy
The Advocacy Service for people who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or deafblind in Staffordshire is funded by Staffordshire Social Services.
Adovcacy can help service users to:
- make clear their own views and wishes;
- express and present their views effectively;
- obtaining independent advice and accurate information;
- negotiate and resolve conflict.
Some people are not clear about their rights as citizens, or have difficult in fully understanding these rights. Others may find it hard to speak up for themselves. The Advocacy Service can help people to take control for the decisions which affect their lives and take more responsibility.
The Advocacy Service can help you with advice and information on benefits claims, going to court, sorting debts, dealing with discrimination, housing and health issues. We can also help you with family, education, employment and participating socially.
We cover the following areas in Staffordshire:
- Staffordshire Moorlands
- Newcastle upon Lyne
- South Western Staffordshire
- East Staffordshire
- Cannock Chase
- Burntwood, Lichfield and Tamworth
