The 'Sign Up' campaign is led by bid services to promote British Sign Language, a full language with its own grammar, which is the preferred language used by deaf people using hand movements and facial expression . It is hoped the 'Sign Up' campaign will give people the opportunity to learn British Sign Language in a relaxed and fun way.

The 'Sign Up' campaign will give those people who already know someone, e.g. a colleague,  a family member, or service users deaf and whose preferred language is British Sign Language, the opportunity to communicate more fully by learning British Sign Language. This will break down any barriers to communication previously experienced.
