News — BID Services is part of new Employment Consortium
BID Services’ employment team are now in a new consortium working with other charities with the aim of providing employment support to a wide range of disabled people and thereby creating the opportunity to gain jobs. The consortium is funded by Be Birmingham. There are 6 different organisations in the Consortium which is called Birmingham Disability Consortium. BID Services will work with Action for Blind People, Birmingham Disability Resource Centre (BDRC), BITA Pathways, Birmingham Rathbone and Midland Mencap.
The consortium have resources to provide employment advice and support for disabled people such as personal support, training for specific job, specialist information, advice and guidance, volunteering opportunities and many more. BID Services remain committed to giving support for deaf people who are looking for employment. This new network will be able to share resources and provide excellent access to deaf people along with a range of other disabilities.
The Birmingham Disability Consortium can support not only a wide range of people with varying disabilities it can also provide services for women between the ages 16 to 60, and for men aged between 16 to 65. Clients must be on employment or incapacity benefit and live in selected areas in Birmingham. The aim is to give disabled people an opportunity to gain employment through training in interview skills, how to apply for jobs and much more.
Lynda Leddington, Trainer said ‘This is an excellent scheme for Birmingham as a whole, it is not only good for BID Services and other members of the consortium, it is a great opportunity for people who are disabled and live in Birmingham to have support to gain employment and to play an active part within the Birmingham community, If you want to be involved or want more information we can be contacted on 0121 246 6100, text phone: 0121 246 6101, fax: 0121 246 6125 or email: info@bid,org.uk.”
