News — BID Services chosen as one of the Lord Mayor’s charities
BID Services is delighted to announce it has been chosen as one of the Lord Mayor’s Charities for the 2010-2011 campaign year. As one of only four charities chosen, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Len Gregory, and the Lady Mayoress, Gillian Gregory will fundraise throughout the year to raise vital funds for BID Services and the other charities.
BID Services aims to use the funding to support a range of programmes for deaf people in Birmingham, such as promoting better communications, supporting deaf people to find and keep a job, helping young deaf people access sport and other activities, and much more.
The Mayor and Mayoress are fully committed to supporting the 4 charities and have already started campaigning to raise awareness about deafness. One of the Mayor’s aims is to recruit British Sign Language (BSL) champions throughout the Council, within schools and to the wider community; indeed, they are so committed, they have started learning sign language with BID Services.
BID’s Chief Executive Bryan Sheppard said “We are always looking for new ways to fund projects and we would like to thank the Mayor for choosing BID Services. Their invaluable support in raising awareness and funds for our cause will make a real difference”.
