  • Games-based learning Exhibition at the Deaf Cultural Centre

    As part of the EU consortium led by Nottingham Trent University, BID Services is hosting a games-based exhibition on Friday, 24th September, to showcase a series of contemporary games called 'Game On Extra Time' developed and designed by the EU Consortia. The games have been developed to help those with a sensory, physical or mental impairment improve their skills and work towards a more independent lifestyle.

  • BID Services chosen as one of the Lord Mayor’s charities

    BID Services is delighted to announce it has been chosen as one of the Lord Mayor’s Charities for the 2010-2011 campaign year.  As one of only four charities chosen, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Len Gregory, and the Lady Mayoress, Gillian Gregory will fundraise throughout the year to raise vital funds for BID Services and the other charities.

  • New Sports Project coming to the Deaf Cultural Centre!

    BID Services is working with StreetGames to create new opportunities for young deaf people to take part in organised sport. StreetGames is a national agency that works to develop sporting opportunities for young people aged 8 to 19, usually those who live in disadvantaged areas and who are currently experiencing one or more disabilities.

    Birmingham’s Lord Mayor will launch Deaf Awareness Week on Monday 28th June at the steps of the Council House Hall with deaf and hearing children from a number of local schools. Together with BID Services, they will release balloons to kick off a number of events that has been planned for the rest of the week.

  • BID Services is part of new Employment Consortium

    BID Services’ employment team are now in a new consortium working with other charities with the aim of providing employment support to a wide range of disabled people and thereby creating the opportunity to gain jobs. The consortium is funded by Be Birmingham. There are 6 different organisations in the Consortium which is called Birmingham Disability Consortium. BID Services will work with Action for Blind People, Birmingham Disability Resource Centre (BDRC), BITA Pathways, Birmingham Rathbone and Midland Mencap.

  • Play scheme @ Deaf Cultural Centre

    The Deaf Cultural Centre has hosted a play scheme for deaf children living in Birmingham. The playscheme ran from Monday 15th to Friday 19th February and included a range of activities for the children aged 8-16, such as a drama workshop, indoor playground, a trip to the Think Tank, Wii, Badminton, 10 pin bowling, craft workshop, face painting and icebreaker games.

  • A conference on ‘A Deaf Perspective’

    bid services are hosting a Palliative Care Conference on Thursday 11th March 2010 at the Deaf Cultural Centre, Ladywood Road, Birmingham. The conference, entitled ‘a deaf perspective’ is aimed at medical and care professionals and will provide invaluable information and advice to those who want to provide deaf patients with the dignity and respect they deserve during their end of life experience.
