Mountain men from Mansell Construction Services are on top of the world after their climbing exploits brought in a record £8,000 for charity.
The seven-strong team from Mansell’s Stourbridge-based Western region successfully completed the testing Three Peaks Challenge, scaling the heights of Britain’s highest peaks in just 20 hours and 40 minutes, so securing a silver medal. The team climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
Their successful expedition raised cash for BID Services With Deaf People, Mary Stevens Hospice and the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund.
A cheque for £3,250 was presented to Bryan Sheppard of BID Services With Deaf People at a special handing over ceremony at the site of a new £3 million Deaf Cultural Centre in Birmingham, built by Mansell.
Taking part in the challenge were Mansell regional managing director Steve Davies, Dean Howard, Peter Rew (team captain), James Dawson, Greg Hopkins, Steve Oldacre and Mark Boland. Drivers were John Henman, Simon Bardell and Steve Marsh.
Steve Oldacre, Mansell building solutions divisional manager, said, “It is a real pleasure that through a fantastic team effort we are able to put something back into the community by making a donation to such a deserving cause”
