    Mike Reynolds

    Chairperson

    Mike Reynolds has been Chair of the Board of Trustees since 1998.  He is a retired probation officer and devotes much of his time to volunteer work in the Deaf community, including interpreting and helping to run the Deaf Church.

  • George Gillan

    George Gillan

    Treasurer

    George Gillan has been Treasurer of BID since 2005.  He has long experience as a commercial loans manager in Birmingham for the Bank of Ireland and has a wide knowledge of risk management.  George is also Treasurer of the Deaf Cultural Centre Board of Directors.

    Trustee

    Lionel Martin joined the Board in September 08 and is the Quantity Surveyor involved with the building of the Deaf Cultural Centre.  Lionel brings a wide range of skills to the Board.

  • Matthew Jackson

    Matthew Jackson

    Trustee

    Matthew Jackson has been on the Board of Trustees since 1993.  He is profoundly deaf and is employed as a Stress Engineer at Rolls Royce. He has many contacts within the Deaf community and is Chair of the Deaf Cultural Centre Board of Directors. He also brings to the Board the day to day experience of a deaf person operating in a hearing environment.

  • Stephen Hewitt

    Stephen Hewitt

    Trustee

    Stephen Hewitt has been a representative on the Board since 1996 and became a trustee in 1999.  He is profoundly deaf and was previously Chair of the Birmingham Deaf Sports & Social Club.  He is heavily involved in the deaf community and is currently Vice President of the Midland Deaf Sports Association.

    Alf Stewart joined the Board in September 08 and is a volunteer at the Deaf Cultural Centre, attending on the Wednesday evening social nights.  He teaches driving theory to young deaf people and has progressed his learning of sign language at a local college.

  • Evelyn Wilcox

    Evelyn Wilcox

    Evelyn Wilcox has been with the BID Board since 1998.  She is profoundly deaf and was a valued employee at Cadburys. She brings a wealth of experience to the Board having been involved in the Birmingham Deaf Sports & Social Club at the old Deaf Centre and prior to that at Granville Street.  Evelyn is also a member of the Deaf Cultural Centre Board of Directors.

  • Eric Trowsdale

    Eric Trowsdale

    Trustee

    Eric Trowsdale is our newest recruit to the Board of Trustees and he joins us following bid services’ merger with Birmingham and District Tinnitus Group in 2009.  Eric is the Chair of the Tinnitus group which he formed in 1981.  Eric has moderate to severe deafness, he previously worked as a Probation Officer, Psychologist and Trainer and his contribution to the Board will expand our skills and bring the valuable perspective of hard of hearing people.

  • Gail Conway

    Gail Conway

    Gail Conway has been on the BID board since 2002. She is deaf and works for the Sensory Support Services under the Directorate of Children, Young People and Families for Birmingham City Council. Previously, she worked for BID Employment Services. Gail is also a member of the Deaf Cultural Centre Board of Directors.

    Chris Daniels has been on the Board since 1999.  He is an ICT expert and worked as IT manager for a major motor vehicle dealership.  Chris has now taken up a new career as a teacher.

  • Sandra Channings

    Sandra Channings

    Trustee

    Sandra Channings joined the Board in September 08.  She is profoundly deaf and has been an integral part of the deaf community all her life. Sandra is a lecturer in Deaf Studies at Bournville College.  Her main focus is teaching British Sign Language levels 1,2, and pre level 3.  In 2006 Sandra received an award for teaching Deaf Awareness from the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.
